The Las Vegas Men's Chorus just wrapped our 30th Anniversary Season with record breaking success: we doubled singing members to 95+, tripled patrons in the audience to 2,000+, unveiled our new full-tuxedo look, inaugurated our dance line, celebrated Artistic Director Ryan Duff's 10th LVMC anniversary, told our history in a 30-minute NPR spotlight, received proclamations from city, county, state, & federal representatives including "Las Vegas Men's Chorus Day" in Las Vegas and Clark County, & established our new performance home at UNLV's Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall all while giving 7,000+ volunteer hours to better our community. Our impact of changing hearts and minds through song is stronger than ever. And we're just getting started!
But We Need Your Help.
Our costs have increased +40% since 2019. LVMC has absorbed these costs while increasing community impact and production value. Facility costs at our performance home of UNLV’s Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall have increased +23% since 2022. One Mainstage Concert now costs $20,000+ to produce. We pay at or above market rate to our musicians, artists, and professional staff. We believe all deserve a living, thriving wage while supporting the arts. Our members not only give community service hours, each member also contributes $300+ of their own funds annually via dues in addition to their indirect costs of concert attire, music printing, and transportation.
Season 31's capstone event is GALA Festival July 2024 where LVMC will represent Las Vegas and Nevada at the "LGBTQ Chorus Olympics". Your LVMC will travel to Minneapolis to join 200+ LGBTQIA+ choruses from across the globe in five days of singing, education, connecting, & creating. With 15,000+ singers, GALA Festival is the largest LGBTQ choral event in the world.
75% of LVMC Members Need Financial Assistance.
Our members join LVMC for many reasons; some want a family to sing with, others need a safe space away from addiction, homelessness, mental health issues, & abuse. What our members share is the drive to make a difference. Our members need GALA Festival 2024 more than ever but three-quarters of them simply can't afford it.
GALA Festival 2024 will cost LVMC $140,000+.
The road to Minneapolis in financially steep: each member's direct costs are ~$2,000 (registration, travel, lodging, food) while LVMC's direct costs are ~$10,000 (registration, staff & musicians wages/travel/lodging/food). The LVMC is committed to equity and access to all members, regardless of their financial ability, but our small non-profit annual budget barely covers day-to-day operations.
